On July 12, 2024, at the 7th "Medicine, Humanity and Media International Conference" hosted by the School of Journalism and Communication at Peking University, Assistant Professor Jiang Shaohai from the Department of Communication and New Media at the National University of Singapore gave a lecture on "Mixed-methods Research in Health Communication Studies". The lecture introduced his research in areas such as doctor-patient communication, Internet healthcare, and social media health promotion. It covered the research design and application of mixed research methods, emphasizing the importance of both qualitative and quantitative research. In health communication activities, the importance of applied research was highlighted, along with examples of different strategies for various health issues. The lecture also included case studies on online doctor-patient communication in China, social media dissemination of health information about HPV, and aging society issues. Jiang Shaohai's research provides new ideas and methods for the field, and the lecture encouraged more students and scholars to engage in relevant research.
