Abstract

On July 8, 2024, Associate Professor Jiang Li from the Department of Media and Communication at City University of Hong Kong delivered a lecture titled "Analysis and Categorization of Health Communication Theories from a Metatheoretical Perspective" at the 7th International Symposium on "Medicine, Humanism, and Media". In her lecture, Associate Professor Jiang Li first introduced the basic concepts and wide applications of health communication and public health communication. She then focused on the theoretical framework and metatheoretical exploration of health communication, providing an in-depth explanation of the role of metatheory and the dynamic evolution process of scientific disciplines. She also mentioned the application of classical metatheories in health communication and analyzed the challenges in theoretical construction and evaluation. Finally, she demonstrated the application of health communication theories in practical problems through specific cases. This lecture deepened the audience's understanding of the theoretical framework and metatheory of health communication, and emphasized the importance of theoretical research and innovative practical applications.
